Dr. Julius Green I, a native of Detroit, MI, had a love of learning and science at an early age.  A survivor of childhood cancer, Dr. Green was fascinated by science and medicine and the good it can do for society.  After obtaining a B.S. in Chemistry from Morehouse College in 2003, Dr. Green joined corporate America serving in roles such as Quality Control Chemist and Research & Development Chemist.  Dr. Green obtained a M.S. in Biochemistry from Georgia State University in 2008 while still working in corporate America.  During this time, Dr. Green engaged in volunteer outreach work for the Atlanta Chapter of the American Chemical Society (ACS).  Additionally, Dr. Green organized the largest networking event for minority Chemists in the Atlanta area for 8 years in an effort to engage more minority Chemists.  

Dr. Green obtained a Ph.D. in Medicinal Organic Chemistry from Georgia State University in 2014 then moved to Washington, DC to continue work in education and advocacy for disadvantaged groups. For 4 years, he served as the first executive director of Empowerment Enterprise II (EE2), a community-based nonprofit that empowered youth and supported disenfranchised communities. Dr. Green reentered academia fulltime in 2019, serving a two-year appointment as a Visiting Scholar at Bentley University in the Boston area. Currently, Dr. Green is Assistant Professor of Organic Chemistry at SUNY Cortland where he conducts medicinal chemistry research and investigates strategies towards improving student outcomes in Chemical Education. Dr. Green still volunteers in the areas of education, outreach, and youth advocacy throughout the country.
