Community STEM Program

Our Community STEM Program has digital and in-person learning opportunities, at community spaces and selected schools, that expose youth to STEM through career exploration, hands-on activities, and interactive demonstrations.

▪STEM in the City-These workshops, that take place in the spring, that introduce youth to earth and environmental sciences are conducted by professionals and/or graduate students in these fields by engaging them in an activity connected to their work, preferably at their field site.

▪STEM at The Ke’nekt-In partnership with The Ke’nekt Cooperative, that is a liberated Black third space in the Westview neighborhood in the City of Atlanta, we host STEM programs and events for youth, primarily to serve youth in the Westview and West End neighborhoods in the City on Atlanta. 

▪STEM at the Library-In partnership with the Fulton County Public Library, we host monthly Teen Science Cafes on Tuesdays from August-April as well as quarterly STEM events on Saturday at the College Park Branch. 

▪ STEM at The Park– In partnership with the City of Douglasville Park and Recreation Department, we host STEM programs and events at their recreation centers to serve youth in the City of Douglasville/Douglas County.

▪STEM Outreach with the Happy Black Parent-SEM Link provides monthly STEM activities for their Homeschool Mondays program.

▪Teen Science Café– These workshops are for middle and high school students to introduce them to STEM Careers. The cafes take place in   informal settings where STEM professionals share their career journey & current work with students & engage them in hands-on activity or demo connected to their work. We host monthly cafes virtually and at the sites of selected community partners.  

▪STEM Themed Weeks Celebration– We will host various in-person events in Metro Atlanta at the sites of our community partners and at selected school sites as well as social media campaigns/virtual events.
